Oldenburg
- Inside The Night - December 2004 |

For this trip I left home at 03:00 on Friday, after about 2 hours sleep after a Christmas party - not a good idea, so I did not feel at my best during this journey. I was in the centre of Hamburg by 10:30, so had 3 hours to walk around the shops, and drink coffee before I got the train to Bremen. My friend Kultkeks was waiting to meet me at Bremen, and we drove in her car to Oldenburg. When we arrived in Oldenburg Christiane was waiting outside the hotel for us, she told us she had nowhere to sleep because all the hotels were fully booked. Chris had been telling me this all week - she said if she could not sleep in out hotel room she would have to sleep under a bridge in Oldenburg (not so good in northern Germany in December!) - she even changed her MSN name to Sleeping Under a Bridge. Marina made a few enquires around local hotels and phoned a few that had rooms, and she helped Chris to find a cheap hotel to stay in. In the evening we went to the shops and markets in Oldenburg, and then to eat - it was a good evening, and I also tried Eierpunch for the first time at the markets - very nice. Our hotel in Oldenburg was very good - next to the venue. The next morning Marina's mobile phone rang early - it was Chris, we decided it was very early and we tried to go back to sleep - but a few minutes later there was a banging on the bedroom door. Christiane was keen to wake us to say we had to go to the hall early as there were already B3 fans there - a bit unfortunate for us that it was B3s last performance, so a lot of their fans would be coming. We had breakfast, which was of course important as we would not eat much all day. At about 9:30 we got to the hall - it was very cold and there were a few B3 fans there. We also learned early that Scooter would be last on stage at 23:50 - although not surprising this was not the most welcome news at 9:30, also it meant we would have to stand through about 5 hours of other artistes. Within a couple of hours there was probably a couple of hundred B3 fans, and we were all made to go and stand behind the barriers. Some of the B3 fans were not at all nice - it was not so good being Scooter fans there, most were ok, but they could not understand why I would come from England to see Scooter. It was cold and boring waiting outside the hall so long - so sometimes

At 17:30 we were finally let into the hall - we were almost first in which is a good feeling , soon it was very crowded, and we were crushed a lot, and people were trying to move us from the front all the time. As Kultkeks said on the forum a lot for fans were removed from the crowd by security when they became ill, quite a lot before the show even started. I had an earring pulled from my ear when one fan was dragged out over my head.
The B3 performance was very emotional, and sad, but it was good, a lot
of the fans were crying. When Scooter finally came on stage it was
great, brilliant. I can't remember the tracks for sure - they started
with the Not many (only one) picture this time - the crush and movement were
too great - and I wanted to concentrate on the music. |

It was just great - the whole place went crazy, and Rick, Jay and H.P. were all fantastic. Rick danced twice. I went crazy as usual, and was glad I had saved my energy. We were standing almost directly in front of Jay. It was worth the long wait, hot and cold - if I ever doubt why I do this (and I must confess at times on Saturday I did) - I know for sure when Scooter are on stage - it was just too good for words . |

I looked worse than I have ever done in my life, hair and clothes dripping with sweat, eyes and face red, and my brain was not working, due to lack of food and drink ( I would really hate anyone to see me look so bad ), but I was very happy. I have never felt so exhausted in my life - but it was great. After the concert when I got back to the hotel I felt totally worn out - almost ready to pass out. I went to the toilet and as I was walking back who should I bump into but Rick - he was just about to go in the lift, but stopped to talk for a minute. He asked about the underwear, and said he thought it was a good joke. I feel so ashamed to be seen like that - and talking so incoherently - kept saying I was going to die in a minute I think.. (Oh Dear!!) I was soaking with sweat - so after a quick beer in the bar I decided to go up to our room to change my T-shirt. I was struggling to open the room door when Rick and his lovely wife came around the corner - he offered to help and opened the door for me. - a real gentleman. Then he introduced me to his beautiful wife. It was great to meet her - but not so good that she saw me it such a state and unable to open a door. - what must she have thought!? I went back down to the bar - and Rick and Nikk were in there having a drink - H.P. soon joined them, - he said Hello then bought the 3 of us a drink. He asked why we would queue for 14 hours - unfortunately he asked my friend in German, or I could have answered - the answer is simple :))) After about an hour H.P. Rick and Nikk left. Neil and some of the other members of the road crew came into the bar, and I spoke with them for a few minutes. Next morning we had breakfast, and Neil joined us for a few minutes - Christiane then left to go home. On Sunday I arrived back in Hamburg at 14:00 - I had to wait until 20:00
for the bus back to the airport - the |

When it got dark, this beautiful city became
even more beautiful, and looked magical - I walked around for 6 hours Can I do it again next Saturday? My body says no - but I say yes - so I am now looking forward to Hamburg. |
