This was a very short notice trip! Monday morning I was at home as usual with nothing special planned all week, Tuesday morning I was in Paris! I hadn't even thought about going to the Paris concert until my son Will asked if I had ever been to the Zenith Hall in Paris because another band he liked is playing there next year. I happened to mention Scooter were there the next day, and it happened from there! It was made possible by EasyJet having very reasonable fares at less than a days notice, and on-line print at home concert tickets. I left home at about 3am on Tuesday morning to get my EasyJet flight from Luton Airport. I finally arrived at my hotel in Paris at about 11am, again I picked the closest hotel I could find to the venue for ease of getting back after the concert. As this was my first visit to Paris (apart from Disneyland) so I decided I really needed to see something other than an airport, train station, hotel and concert, so I decided to go to see the Eiffel Tower. I left my bag in the hotel and set off to find the venue, which was about 15 mins walk from the hotel. There were already a few fans outside when I passed it, but no one I knew. I then walked to the nearest Metro Station in my bid to find the tower.
The tower was on the opposite side of Paris so it took me quite a while to get there, as I didn't find the public transport system particularly easy to negotiate, and my walking is not good; a lot of stations did not have escallators or lifts, so what would have been an easy journey for most was not for me, but finally made it, the weather was good so I had a walk along the river as well. Chris contacted me to say she would arrive in Paris at about 15:30 and asked me to meet her at the railway station, so I headed back that way to meet her. Chris asked if she could leave her bag in my hotel until after the concert, so we headed back to the hotel, Chris then went on to the hall while I got myself sorted out, and followed about 45 mins later. Although the hall was about a 15 min walk from the hotel, in distance it was quite close, but because it was at the other side of a canal it was a longer walk. When I left the hotel I could hear the sound check being carried out - this is something I have always liked - gives you a good feeling to hear the music :) This was a nice venue, not too large, but with a reasonable size stage.
Maddy was also coming to this concert, but unfortunately her bus was late. The doors opened at 18:00 and Chris and I got the the front row, and Maddy soon joined us - it had been quite a while since the three of us were together again at a concert, and it was good, we had a lot of fun. At about 20:00 DJ Jerome, the support DJ cameon stage he was very good and I enjoyed his set. I was starting to feel very tired though as I had been up sonce 3am, and had very little to eat, I just wanted Scooter to come on stage :) Scooter started at about 21:30 and all I can say is Wow!!! what a show. It was longer tham the show in Helsinki, just over 2 hours in total, there were more dancers and the lighting was superb! The band were amazing - so much energy in them all, and Etnik looked like he had always belonged there. I took a few pictures but not many as enjoying the show was more important. It was great to hear Bigroom Blitz, and Can't Stop The Hardcore live for the first time and to hear The Night again, and the new mix of Move Your Ass in the finale was fantastic! It was a very good and varied concert tracklist, one of the best I have heard. In fact overall this was one of the best concerts I've been to! The audience were great, really enthusiastic, and seemed to sing along to every word :)
When the concert finished security were very quick to kick us out of the hall, it was pouring with rain and we (Chris, Maddy and me) got very wet indeed! I eventually got to bed at about 02:30, very happy :) I had to get up at 05:30 to go to the airport for my flight home. It was a very short and tiring trip to Paris, but a very, very good one as my after concert smile shows - these concerts make me very happy! Home now for five days, then I fly to Hannover on Monday to go to the last three concerts of the year Tuesday Hannover, Thursday Dortmund and Friday Bremen. Looking forward to it very much, and also to the German Christmas Markets.
